Analysis of Agrammatism in Aphasia
Hloucalová, Bára ; Chejnová, Pavla (advisor) ; Wildová, Zuzana (referee)
The thesis explores interdisciplinary collaboration between linguistics and speech therapy, focusing on impaired communication abilities - specifically, neurogenic disorders of speech communication known as aphasia. The aim of this work is to integrate linguistics and its effective application in the therapeutic care of patients with aphasia. The practical part is centred around the analysis of aphasic speeches, which are linguistically dissected in various language dimensions. Specific interferences and agrammatism are identified. This analysis subsequently leads to the creation of a model therapeutic unit, showcasing the significant applicability of linguistics in aphasiology. KEYWORDS aphasia, agrammatism, typology, linguistic levels, neurolinguistics, speech impairment
The problematics of the false beginner in French as a foreign language learning/teaching
Markalousová, Barbora ; Klinka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Biegel, Madeleine (referee)
This thesis will address the special problem of learning and teaching at the level of a false beginner in French. The text will be divided into two parts, a theoretical part and a practical part. In the theoretical part, we will define the specific term of false beginner, furthermore, we will classify it according to the language level in the European Framework of Reference and I will focus on several points of view on this issue. In the theoretical part we will also describe the learning process from the didactic perspective, from the psycholinguistic perspective and from the perspective of the functioning of the two hemispheres of our brain, in other words, from the neurolinguistic perspective. According to these perspectives, we suggest several types of exercises, games and various other activities that could be beneficial for a false beginner. In the practical part, I then analyse data from my survey, which focuses on students of French language courses at the "false beginner" level and professionals in the Czech Republic and in France. The aim of the work was to define the false beginner with his/her characteristics, to classify him/her within the European Framework of Reference, and to find out how to work with him/her from a didactic point of view, and whether the work is similar to that...

Language and Ageing - Cognitive and Educational Aspects in the Elderly with Special Focus on Cognitive Training in a Foreign Language in People with Dementia
Veltruská Šmídová, Kateřina ; Pípalová, Renata (advisor) ; Lancová, Klára (referee)
The thesis explores cognitive as well as educational aspects in elderly people. The main emphasis is put on investigating the influence of cognitive training carried out in a foreign language on the elderly suffering from dementia. Having described the basic anatomy of the nervous system, neurolinguistic theories as well as ageing and having dealt with cognitive aspects in relation to language learning, the thesis aims at performing an experiment that should help dementia clients to broaden their vocabulary in a foreign language. This is to be achieved through individual therapy- like units using worksheets created specifically for these purposes. The results indicate that cognitive training in a foreign language is beneficial to dementia clients and could be used more extensively. The worksheets were redesigned in order to facilitate their further use by specialised teachers or lectures working with mentally healthy seniors. Key words ageing, dementia, language, cognitive training, neurolinguistics, geragogy
